HUMAN EVOLUTION IS DETERMINED BY COMPUTER EVOLUTION
by Ted R Bailey
We have moved from dumb refrigerators and coffee makers to thinking machines with the power to control what foods you can eat and how much coffee you are allowed to drink.
Soon, it will be remotely programmed by your doctor.
Meanwhile, our credit system unfairly suppresses our ability to buy some of the things we want, we receive annoying robocalls, get hammered by Google advertising, are incorrectly represented by medical databases, and accosted by insurance databases just to name a few of the computer evolved annoyances.
How are these things possible?
Algorithms.
Algorithms are the basis of the new programs for everything.
An algorithm is simply a procedure for doing anything, and that is a good thing. It is the first step of software design and they are being stored in bulk called "libraries" to be used over and over by software developers, which is the key to computers evolving into something bigger than just a computer.
Computer evolution results in human evolution at much greater rate than normal biological evolution by itself. The creation of knowledge that is stored in these libraries have boosted human evolution from the technological stone age to the beginnings of a true civilized society. Yes, the general consensus by astro scientists lead us to believe the evolution of humanity is yet quite primitive on most levels, from medical care, life span, brain power, transportation, business techniques, world leadership, and most anything else you can imagine.
Buyer beware, however. Algorithms can be used to oppress society as well. Political control, credit bureaus, databases of negative information of any kind you don't want, medical databases that spread your secret information around needlessly, and numerous other data oriented manipulations to include social media as well.
But there is a way to fight the negatives.
Can we use algorithms to fight back? Yes. The market is ripe for new apps to help us fight back.
Apps fighting apps will be the future.
Finding or writing an app to fight back will determine your ability to survive the technological control factors.
Of course if the control factors are within human comprehension, meaning if, instead they aren't human.
Basically, software developers use ever increasing storage of algorithms to speed up technological designs without having to re-invent the wheel every time they write a program. They can reuse algorithms to speed up development time.
An example is the huge database of software classes by Oracle, the owner of Java they bought from the original inventors, Sun. It is by far a huge first step in human evolution by allowing software developers to pull previously written programs to build new software like clicking Legos together out of a box.
The programmers don't have to worry about how the stored programs are written, they simply use them to build new things at a phenomenal rate. A recent example is drone development.
Several Japanese software developers stored the algorithms for drone motor control and made them available for anyone interested in robotics. From there, drone development has expanded at a geometric progression beyond imagination.
Soon, programs can be written to automatically do the same procedure, thus writing new software to perpetuate themselves and virtually procreate themselves. Scary but already a common practice.
Anyone can write a computer program to search and find algorithms and classes of software, plug them in to a workable sequence, test them, and correct them in microseconds.
Machines making machines. The procreation of machines. Skynet from The Terminator. It’s here.
These self-perpetuating programs, along with Artificial Intelligence will obviously be dangerous on many levels, but the allure is a compelling idea for any aspiring engineer who wants to be a god. It's intriguing to say the least.
These "libraries" of algorithms have revolutionized humanity. In the interest of speeding up technology, they are available to everyone, at least for now. I predict that will soon be limited to a select few who have the right political connections.
Check out these ideas by going to the Oracle website and read about it. Anyone can be a developer and contribute to the immensity of the future of human evolution by making new universes through computer evolution.
Be a god. You can do it. Become a computer programmer.
THE FUTURE IS NOW.
AI is the biggest leap forward humanity will have for the coming century.
