This article by Dr. Mayer discusses the attempts of the pre-revolutionary war America to acquire Canada by General George Washington's forceful attempts and by persuasion. As I have been saying, it reminds me of what America is going through right now.
By comparison, Canada was made up of Anglos and French, but mostly French. To be expected the Anglos leaned on the side of America, but the French didn't trust them after their forceful attempts earlier.
Like America today, the divisions are based on culture, languages, and nationality, in a large sense on the huge population of illegal or inalienated foreigners with the south comprising of over 50% of non-Anglos, meaning Hispanics, Indian, and Muslims, while blacks are not included.
In the USA's case the demographics of the country has been changed by a huge influx of foreigners, causing a shift in attitudes in social, economic, political, and religious ideals to the point of no return.
IT CAUSES THE COUNTRY TO QUESTION ITS IDENTITY FROM WITHIN AND CREATES DISCORD. FROM IT, COMPROMISE IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. IN A HUGE SENSE, THERE IS NO PLACE TO RUN AND HIDE FROM IT, GIVING THE SENSE OF BEING BACKED INTO A CORNER BY SOME.
THAT'S DANGEROUS.
