Moving Off the Earth Will Require Urgency
by Ted Bailey
All of the science fiction I write,
whether it’s a short story, video game or up-and-coming book, requires humans
wandering around a universe of extra-terrestrial planets with alien beings. It
is that type of fun we all expect out of such stories.
Reality is all too quick to slap me
squarely in the face of my mind, where my imagination flops harshly down onto
planet Earth. Sadly, I wander outdoors to find the Red Planet up there and
dream.
Humans seldom do anything outside of
their "Urgency alarm status" telling them to do something or die.
Otherwise, taking immediate action into the face of danger tends to be pushed
into the procrastination shelf to remain until it is absolutely required.
So, the question of when will the
urgency hit us to form colonies off the Earth, even if they are orbiting arks
of survival? I believe we are very close to it, actually, squarely in the midst
of those urgency alarm zones but ignoring the fact they are about to sound off
very loudly.
I imagine you can see them yourself.
As nuclear war looms large upon our civilizations, we should all be desiring to move away from the old human existence and into a new existence.
