FUTURE SHOCK AS WE EMERGE FROM A TECHNOLOGY MIDDLE-AGES--A LIST OF TECH ADVANCES WE EXPECT
As we emerge from a Technology Middle-Ages where few tech advances were introduced, a sort-of future shock looms ahead.
Yes, we have just traversed a very long and disappointing void of tech advancement. Think about it. We used vacuum tube technology from the 1930s well into the mid-1970s. Forty years of primitive, power-sucking huge boxes of technology that was was combersome to design and maintain.
Oh, sure, the transistor emerged within that time but took its sweet time to reveal itself in any semblence of replacing the tube.
Finally, the integrated circuit with digital circuits embedded appeared to save us from primitive hell. Thanks to that invention the microprocessor and computers pulled us out of the slow crawl to the future.
It was temporary, considering it has been the last real progresseive climb into what we scifi afficianados consider "the future".
We have gone from 1980 to 2022 without any major inventions to proliferate society in any meaningful way.
How should we be living by now? Heres a list:
1. Environmentally protected cities.
2. Energy from solar satellite collectors, fusion reactors, thermal sources, and photonic circuits to replace electronics, including photonic wiring.
3. Anti-grav cars and aircraft.
4. Completely free medical care with genetic engineering for curing all diseases.
5. Education on college campuses readily available to all.
6. Artificial Intelligence to handle almost all functions at instant speeds.
7. No need to have babies internally but entirely through birthing laboratories, unless the parents absolutely want to have natural births.
8. Remote and even autonomous weaponry, like tanks, ships, air defenses, and other war machines.
9. Faster-than-light space travel.
10. Colonies on Mars and underground on the Moon.
May we never have another Dark Ages of Tech again.
